Florida Tech Diplomat
As a newly admitted college student, your choice to study in the United States is no doubt the most important decision you have ever made. You probably have numerous questions about life in the United States and at Florida Tech, ranging from what to bring with you, what airport to arrive, where to live if you are not required to live on campus, how to get around, the cost of living, etc.
In an attempt to assist our new students, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services instituted the Florida Tech Diplomat Program in the Fall of 2005. The program consists of "veteran" international students from several countries who have been through the process of arrival themselves. The diplomats offer their time, knowledge and experience to help new international students transition into life in the United States.
Over the past two years, we have seen the Diplomat Program double in size—with hundreds of new international students benefiting from the guidance and mentoring of an international diplomat. Lifetime friendships have been formed, and the process of adapting to a new culture has become much easier for many new students.
We urge you to take advantage of this program, designed exclusively for you, our new international students. Our diplomats are ready and waiting to e-mail you and to answer your questions.
If you are interested in hearing from a diplomat, e-mail the following information to the Office of International Student Services, at isss@551827.com prior to your arrival:
- name
- graduate or undergraduate
- country of origin
- approximate date/time of entry and port of entry
You never know, you may just meet a lifelong friend before you even arrive on campus!!!!
